08 - 09 Schedule Stan Hickey 515R Superstock Hickey Racing Team Career Highlights Sponsors Photos Home Contact

Well despite all the promises once again a busy winter has stopped me from updating our website as often as I should.

We are very grateful to our two major sponsors, the NZ Welding School and Nickel Engineering for coming on board again this summer.

Well you will see from the attached photos that the Hickey/Rumney Team have been very busy. With the blessing of Murray, Dolly has reproduced. A healthy, not sure of the kg's yet, Stockcar. A Ford of course but with totally different suspension and running gear than her own.

Lyall has built the car for his boys David and Michael, (or will we see Lyall in there occasionally), and hopes to have it on the track for our 6th of December meeting. All the steel work is basically finished and all the time consuming mounting of things is virtually complete. Nearly time for painting and adding the body which will be, a Ford Fiesta, the same as Dolly's. The only difference in the basic chassis is that Dolly is sheet high tensile and this one is Mild Steel.

There will be a couple more late nights between now and the 6th.

"Dolly"

We have had three outings. Palmy's opening meeting where to be honest Stan didn't have his best night at the office, but now and again that happens. From there to opening in Rotorua and only the one race before we were rained off but Stan started at 10th of the grid and finished fourth so he was quite happy with that.

Off to Huntly last weekend and although a bit disappointed with the lack of numbers it was a good opportunity to have a play with a couple of setup changes and by the last race we really had cracked it. Stan took .2 of a second of his lap record that he held from two years ago so he was really pleased with that. May be he's not quite past his "use by date" just yet.

To answer that big question of when is he going to give up. I guess the simplest way to put it is, when he feels he is no longer competitive.

Our next outing will be the Waikato Champs at Huntly on the 28th of November.
